Tribal Tattoos are by far the most popular tattoo going today. Whether this is a fad or a long term trend remains to be seen, but the depth and almost endless expression that these tattoos allow, make me feel that they are here for the long term, and will remain popular for many years to come.
Tribal Tattoos are some of the oldest known tattoos in existence as many cultures used them to distinguish their tribes or show their status. Tribal tattoos are often abstract, and simple. They are believed to have originated in the pacific islands and africa.
They usually consist of no color, and usually containt thick dark lines in shapes that are spread throughout the skin. They can contain color, but the majority do not. Most tribal tattoos are shapes, but they sometimes will be of something similar such as a sun or other recognizable objects.
Tribal Tattoos in their origin were not so much for their artwork, but more as a status symbol for power or similar things. For many years western cultures frowned on tattoos, but today society excepts them at a much higher level, with as many as 1 in 4 adults having some sort of tattoo on their body.
Tribal Tattoos are some of the most abstract tattoos going, and give the artist almost endless possibilities.
